"Unless we recreate the environment of our ancestors, unless we envision their landscape, unless we know what events charted their lives, unless we know THEM, then we will learn little about our heritage." -TALIAFERRO TIMES, Volume I, November 20, 1996, Issue 3

Nothing in genealogy is written in stone. Unless of course it’s a headstone and even those at times have been proven wrong.

This is an ongoing research site for our "Murray" family and its kindred surnames. Some items are still un-sourced and considered at a "best guess" stage. On these pages you will find a great deal of work that has primary, secondary and tertiary sources and you will find information yet to be sourced. We have entered many of the more promising unconfirmed items for research purposes in hopes that you the reader might have or know of information concerning them and be willing to share. We have located quite a few transcriptions. Unless we have listed where the original document is “housed” or we have obtained the document and uploaded it to our media section the transcription itself is to be used for furthering research, not as a confirmed source, the original document should be found and the transcription proofed. All unconfirmed items are being researched, studied and evaluated; it is an ongoing effort, with accuracy the goal.

We would be glad to hear and answer all questions, comments, corrections and new information. Check back often for changes and additions. -Ellen Jane, 21 May 2008

William E. Ward (1924 - 2013) was the man behind the "Murray" section of Kindred Tapestry. He spent several years collecting, inputting and researching this end of the family. He loved finding pieces and putting the puzzle together. When I began Kindred Tapestry online Uncle Bill retired as family historian and turned over the work to me and guided me in many ways. He didn't stay on the sidelines long. Perhaps all of a few months. Then when he saw how much could be found on the internet he became excited and jumped back in. I am grateful to have been able to collaberate with him. We worked mostly by email. A great amount of communication went between us. I was unable to continue work for a few years and he carried on as ever. Because of his untiring work many people have been able to find out more about family they thought lost to them genealogically. His love and contribution to this families historical study will continue. He will be missed. - Ellen Jane
