Notes

Note
According to granddaughter Ellen Jane Ward Hendrix, Rudy's name can be found in Jacksons' Battle of New Orleans, January, 1815. She ‎(his granddaughter, my grandmother)‎ was always very proud of his participation and talked about it frequently.

Note
James David Hendrix, Rudy's grandson through William, is quoted in his personal notes as saying, "My great-grandfather William Hendrix served under Washington during the Revolutionary War." His notes also claimed that the Hendrix family first settled in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.

Note
Research Notes
Family tradition says Rudy's father's name was William. It was also believed that Rudy's father "William" and his two brothers Samuel, and Rudy, immigrated from Holland and settled in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. There are some researchers who believe Rudy's father was from the Hendrix line of either North or South Carolina. There is also the possibility that Rudy and at least some of his children lived for a time in Indiana before moving onward to Missouri and that there were several more children than we have currently listed in Rudy's family. Much research is needed to prove this line any further.
