and four days.

in 1826 and leaves a husband 76 years

"Sister, thou was mild and lovely,
Gentle as the summer breeze,
Pleasant as the air of evening
When it floats around the trees.

"Peaceful be thy silent slumber -
Peaceful in the grave so low,
Thou no more will join our number -
Thou no more our songs shall know.

"Yet again we hope to meet thee
When the day of life is fled;
Then in Heaven with joy to greet thee
Where no farewell tear is shed."

This Obituary for Nancy R. Stewart is the first indication that her middle name probably was "Rice" Her mother, Lucy Rice, named her first child William Rice Ward, and her second Charles Rice Ward. Logic seems to dictate that Matilda and Nancy were also beneficiaries of the Rice Family name, although we have no proof of that as yet.
