Thomas Murray, 5331 Highland Ave, Kansas City, Mo.; Widower, Died January 17, 1934; Buried St. Mary's Cemetery 19 January 1934; Quirk & Tobin Co. Cause of Death - pneumonia from an acute cold. Date of Birth, Jan 4 1849, New York. His age 84 y, 0 m, 13 d.
Informant: Little Sisters of the Poor, 5331 Highland.

The calculation of Thomas's age at 84 years is obviously incorrect. It should be 85 years and 13 days since he had just passed his 85th birthday when he came down with the cold. The Doctor had been treating him from January 7th to the 17th and had seen him last on the afternoon of the 16th.

Note: Thomas lived in Corning, New York until about 1923. He had been very ill in the County Hospital there and had no money, relatives, or job. He came to Kansas City to live with his brother, Andrew, who settled him in with the Little Sisters of the Poor on 53rd and Highland in K.C. Mo. He was a Mason for many years but that organization wouldn't help him at all. He lived at the Home until his death in 1934. During his stay there he took care of all the Nuns cleaning needs and supervised the men's ward at the Home. They had agreed to accept him ‎(an out-of-state non-Catholic)‎ because of what Andrew Murray had contributed to their Home through the years. Thomas had said he had one daughter who had lived with him in New York until age 18 but had moved to California and married and he never saw her again.
